RetroSpace Environment Kills: Water, Electricity and Fire

The store page promises that you can “manipulate interconnected systems, exploit environmental hazards, turn security against your enemies”. Here is what has been shown to work.

Water and electricity

The cleaner spray’s right mouse button leaves a puddle, and puddles can be linked together. The game teaches this on a depleted battery near the start. Against enemies:

  1. Lay a water puddle where the enemy will stand, connected to an electrical box or conduit.
  2. Hit or shoot the box to send the current through.

A demo player asked how to trigger it without hitting the box with a melee weapon; in the recordings, damaging the box is the trigger. The duuro.net review lists “spray water near a transformer and shoot it to electrocute an enemy” among the tricks that work.

Oil and fire

The same review describes coating a patch of floor in oil and setting it alight. The Bradbury beam gun sets enemies on fire, and a fire extinguisher puts fires out if you need the route back. A demo bug left fire effects floating after they were extinguished.

Explosions

Explosive barrels can be thrown or shot. Since the July demo patch, enemies close to the blast are blown to pieces, but gibbed bodies cannot be looted, so you lose their drops.

Batteries and energy cells

A developer explained batteries on the Steam forum: they power various items, depleted ones can be recharged with electricity, and fully charged ones can explode. The deep-dive video lists unstable energy cells among the hazards you can use on enemies.

Boxes and heights

Stacking boxes to build “box stairs” is a core way around Aurora 5. The July patch made objects turn transparent when they get close to your face and made stacking smoother. DJ Charlatan’s audio log tip says the same: “stack those boxes all the way.”

When it does not work

Duuro hit a server room objective where water, electricity and fire all failed and only shooting the connected computer counted. Treat the systems as tools for enemies and routes; story objectives sometimes want one specific action.
