RetroSpace Map: Aurora 5 Sections, Train and Fast Travel
Sections in the order you reach them
- Medical stasis
You wake early in stasis chamber 37. Code 0937 opens the janitor's room at the bottom of the chambers (pistol and ammo); 1477 turns the stasis turret friendly. Fix the generator to get the elevator running.
- Nexus Plaza
A big hub behind a pressure hatch. Dr. Nebula makes contact here, and a terminal gives you the station map. A passage also leads to the medical section.
- Nexus Gardens
Codes 9636 (section override) and 1212 (garden storage). The garden train station and the Head Gardener's Office are here.
- Medical section
Reception, ICU (0451), turrets (2177), prep rooms, nurses' quarters, the disco lounge, the surgical ward with its retinal scanner, storage, and Professor Hammond's office (1234). The June demo took place here.
- Quarantine lockdown and the jump
Lifting the lockdown throws the section into its other time period. New routes open, including the morgue (2236).
- Train
A train circles the whole station so you can reach far sections quickly; quarantine locks keep some stations shut at first.
The station is far bigger than this. The developers' Space tourist achievement asks you to explore all main sections, and this list grows as we confirm the later ones.
Route checked:
Two timelines
The store page says the ship "is constantly jumping between two time periods", and the medical section shows how that plays: after the quarantine lockdown event the same rooms change, doors you never opened become reachable and new shortcuts appear. Demo patch notes call the second state "timeline B". When you are stuck, the answer is often a door you passed in the other timeline. A developer pointed a stuck player to the morgue for exactly this reason: "That's the only door you probably never opened in the other timeline."
The Janitors' Haven
Your base is "an island of peace and tranquility" that grows through the story. Survivors you help move in and add a workbench, a shooting range, a laboratory, the tech gadget shop or weapon upgrades. The Haven also links the janitor rooms for fast travel. See characters for who unlocks what.
Getting around
- Vents and hatches: almost every locked area has a crawlspace route. Stack boxes to reach high ones; the July demo patch made box stacking smoother and let you mantle into vents.
- Train: circles the station for long trips.
- Janitor rooms: fast travel once found.
- Codes: most doors also have a keypad. Our door code list follows this route.
Station questions
Is there fast travel in RetroSpace?
Yes. Each section has a special janitor room. Once you find it, you can travel through your base, the Janitors' Haven, to any janitor room you have found. A train that circles the station is the slower option.
Is there a map in RetroSpace?
Yes, in your PDA (the PHCD). Players asked for map markers during the demo and a developer said markers and a map hotkey were on the nice-to-have list.
Is RetroSpace open world?
Not open world, but interconnected. The developers call it partly Metroidvania: a huge station with backtracking, and new shortcuts and secret paths that open as the story moves on.
How do I get to the Janitors' Haven in the demo?
A developer answered this on the Steam forum: get into the morgue in the other timeline and find the way on from there. The morgue code is 2236, or use the hidden route above the storage room near its door.
