RetroSpace Enemies: Mothmanauts, Turrets and Weak Points

Mothmanaut

Astronauts turned into moth-like mutants; the creature on the key art.

How to handle it: When hurt they run to a light source to heal, and they are fully vulnerable while healing (developer reply). A charged wrench hit to the head of one that has not noticed you kills it outright.

Security turrets

Wall and ceiling guns that shred you in corridors.

How to handle it: Every area has a turret override code that makes them friendly; in the medical section it is 2177. Damaged turrets smoke and spark, so you can tell when they are close to breaking. Friendly turrets fight for you.

Mutant boar

A huge boar or pig hybrid. Demo players met it in the dark and in the morgue.

How to handle it: A bullet sponge: one player put it at about one and a half full revolver reloads. Lead it into hazards or avoid it.

Headcreeps

Small crawling creatures low to the ground.

How to handle it: The wrench's range was extended in July so you can hit them without crouching.

Flower-headed mutants

Botanists turned into plant creatures; reviewers compare them to Demogorgons.

How to handle it: Duuro's review notes they drop in two or three ray gun shots.

Insect people

Bug-like humans in the later sections.

How to handle it: No tactics published yet beyond scanning them for weaknesses.

Androids and robots

The station's machines; the Clean hands achievement says robots and turrets count as kills.

How to handle it: If you want the pacifist achievement, do not destroy them either.

Enemy notes checked:

Scanning and the codex

Your PDA has a codex that fills in when you photograph enemies with the camera. The PS5 review describes scanning as the way to learn each enemy's strengths and weaknesses, and a developer confirmed the camera is found later than the demo area. Scan anything new before you commit ammo.

Bosses and Charley

The developers have said bosses exist and are "totally optional", but they have not shown them. The only named target so far is Charley, from the achievement "The Rite: Find the way to kill Charley". We will add boss notes once they can be checked against recordings rather than guessed.

Enemy achievements

These pull in opposite directions; the achievement planner splits them into runs.

Enemy questions

Why do Mothmanauts run away in RetroSpace?

They go to a light source to heal. A developer confirmed this is intended and that they are totally vulnerable while they heal, so chase them or kill the light.

How do I make turrets friendly in RetroSpace?

Enter the section's turret code on its control panel. In the medical section that is 2177. The developers say each area has its own code. See our door code list.

How do I see enemy weaknesses?

Scan enemies with the camera. The codex in your PDA fills in as you scan. You do not get the camera in the demo area; it comes later.

Who is Charley in RetroSpace?

Charley is the target of the achievement "The Rite: Find the way to kill Charley". Nothing else about Charley has been shown yet, and the developers have kept bosses under wraps.
