How the date was set
RetroSpace was revealed in January 2023 and spent nearly four years in development. It was first aimed at Q2 2026, then the console versions were announced at the Wishlisted showcase in April 2026, a demo arrived for Steam Next Fest on June 11, and the October 1 date was revealed on August 18 with a new trailer. The demo stayed up until launch and received two major updates; the build history lists what changed.

What time does RetroSpace unlock?
At 5:00 PM CEST on October 1, 2026, which is 11:00 AM EDT and 8:00 AM PDT. A developer gave the time on the Steam forum when a player asked whether it would be a midnight release.
Can I pre-purchase RetroSpace?
Not on Steam. A player asked why there was no pre-purchase option in the last days before launch; the price was only shown on the store page at launch.
Is RetroSpace in Early Access?
No. The developers' FAQ states it is a full release.
When is RetroSpace coming to Switch 2?
No date yet. Switch 2 was announced in April 2026 with PS5 and Xbox, but the developers' FAQ lists it as pending and reviews say it comes later.
